The First Officer's Meeting of 2026

On January 12, the officers of Porter Lodge convened in the dining room for their first officers’ meeting of the year. The newly installed Worshipful Master outlined his vision for the year, first in broad terms and then with greater detail. A variety of initiatives were discussed, with a strong emphasis on strengthening fellowship among the brethren and their families. To that end, several inclusive events were proposed, including a movie night at the Lodge, shared dinners, the annual picnic, and similar gatherings.

The officers also discussed plans for travel and visiting other Lodges. Considerable attention was given to the possibility of holding an outdoor degree. As the Lodge no longer has access to a secluded farm location, alternative options were explored. Among the ideas considered were traveling to a site of Masonic significance and conferring the Master Mason degree there, such as Scholfield House in Madison, Indiana; the Grand Lodge building in Indianapolis; or the Scottish Rite Cathedral in South Bend or Indianapolis. These locations were seen as offering both historical importance and the opportunity to create a lasting, meaningful experience for the candidate and participating brethren.

Additionally, the officers discussed developing a new design for Lodge polos or shirts, with several concepts shared. The Worshipful Master will research pricing and color options and report back at a future meeting so the idea can be considered for final approval.
